Things to consider when determining holiday schedules

Families in Ohio are now preparing for the holidays. This could include travel outside of the state to see family or having family from out of state come to their homes. Some people celebrate the holidays on different days with different sides of the family. When couples are married they generally all go to the same locations together, but if they are divorced developing a plan for the holidays can be much more difficult.

How family evaluations are used in determining child custody

It is not easy to raise children in Ohio, and parents must make many difficult decisions for their children in addition to the day to day decisions. When parents are together, one parent may be responsible for more of the decisions or both parents may be equally involved in all decisions. This is a dynamic that is determined between the two parents.

Factors used in making shared parenting determinations

There are many different ways to parent children in Ohio and each parenting style differs from family to family. Even within the same family, two parents may parent differently. This does not necessarily mean that one style is wrong. Parents may have discussions about parenting while they are married and may disagree with the other parent from time to time, but the parents still may make the decisions together. This can be true if the couple ever divorces as well, but the parents must have a child custody order specifically stating that there is going to be shared parenting.

Can child custody orders be changed after a divorce?

There are many decisions that are made during a divorce. These decisions can have a major effect on how people live their lives after the divorce. This will determine who will keep the house and how many assets each spouse will have moving forward. The order will also determine when people will see their children and which parent will make decisions regarding the children's lives. However, these decisions are made based on the circumstances at the time of the divorce.

What factors will affect your child custody issue?

In many divorce cases in Ohio, the most important issue for the parties involved is child custody. Some couples are able to work out an agreement on how the issue will be handled, but there are many who simply cannot agree. After all, the parties in a divorce often are not coming from a good place, especially in how they agree or disagree. What factors affect child custody issues?

What do your kids need from you in the middle of a divorce?

Thousands of Ohio residents go through the divorce process each year. Although the circumstances of any given divorce case can vary widely, there are certain issues that will likely be addressed in almost every case: alimony; child custody; child support; property division; and the applicability of prenuptial agreements. However, in the middle of a divorce, which can feel chaotic at times, parents should be focused on one thing above all: the impact of the divorce on their kids.
