Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a wide-ranging problem that our courts take extremely seriously. Estimates range from 960,000 incidents of violence against a current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend to 3 million women in the U.S. who are physically abused by their husband or boyfriend per year. While it is most often violence against women which is litigated, we have assisted male victims of domestic violence as well.
Often, it is children who suffer most as a result of domestic violence. Research shows that even when children are not the direct targets of violence in the home, they can be harmed by witnessing its occurrence. We can help.
There are legal safeguards in place to protect victims of a violent relationship. Our experienced attorneys, including a former prosecutor, can assist you in obtaining restraining orders and/or a civil protection order. We can help you stop the cycle of violence and put an end to intimate partner abuse.
